Former Lord Chancellor Charlie Falconer yesterday called upon the Prime Minister to resign on the basis that Gordon Brown cannot unite the Labour Party. He went on to state that there was an opportunity for a new leader to be brought in who could carry the party message successfully to the electorate at the next general election. We understand that Lord Falconer will repeat this message in an article in the Times.
At a gathering of loyal party members in East London the Prime Minister made no reference to the charge put by Lord Falconer.
